The Machine That Refused to Quit Is Making the Best Peppermint Creams We've Ever Had

In December 2025, our depositor died. That machine had one job: heat the peppermint cream to liquid, drop flat discs onto the belt, move on. Then, one day, it didn't.

So Josh went to the backup. The backup happens to be a Friend machine that hasn't been manufactured since 1939. It works differently. Instead of heating the cream to liquid, it takes the cream after the cream beater has worked it for 30 minutes, after three large paddles have aligned every sugar crystal until the texture is completely smooth, when it's firm and cool and ready. Not mixing. Aligning. A wire slices each piece to exactly the right height as it presses through. The result is a dome instead of a disc.

Same recipe. Same peppermint cream center. Same dark chocolate blend from the enrober. Same 7 to 10 days of resting while the centers soften back to that melt-in-your-mouth texture every loyal customer knows. Just a different shape from a machine that's been doing this longer than most of us have been alive.

The old machine survived. The candy got better. We're calling them Peppermint Creams now. You'll understand why the moment you bite through that dark chocolate shell and a wave of cool, strong peppermint hits, smooth all the way through.

Why You'll Love It

Products made and / or packaged at Stage Stop Candy are produced on shared equipment with peanuts, tree nuts (almonds, pecans, cashews, walnuts, coconut), milk, eggs, soybeans, and wheat.

While we practice GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices) to limit cross contamination and reduce the risk of undeclared ingredients, we are not able to guarantee items as free from a particular allergen.

Shipping Information

Orders of $20 or more ship for as low as $7. Your shipping options and rates show at checkout, based on what's in your cart and where it's going.

  • SSC Ground Shipping (no ice pack): our lowest flat rate, typically 5 to 10 business days. Available all year for heat-safe candy like fudge, salt water taffy, fruit slices, and gummi candy, and in the cooler months for chocolate.
  • SSC Expedited Shipping: a $20 flat rate for orders with chocolate or other items that can melt, typically 2 to 5 business days.
  • Carrier services: choose your own USPS or UPS service, with rates calculated at checkout.

Most orders ship within 1 to 2 business days. If you want your order held and shipped on a specific date, please note that at checkout.

Chocolate can soften in warm weather, and we can't guarantee it will arrive solid. If your order needs to arrive by a certain date, call us at 508-394-1791 and we'll help you pick the right option.

Return Information

At Stage Stop Candy, we stand behind every treat. If you're not happy with your order, let us know and we'll make it right.

Return window

  • 30 days from the day you receive your order. For fudge, 14 days from delivery.
  • Unopened items in their original packaging can be returned or exchanged for any reason.
  • Opened or partly eaten? If you're unhappy with the quality, we'll still replace or refund it.

Damaged, missing or wrong items

  • Contact us within 72 hours of delivery, with photos of the item and the shipping box.
  • Items that melt on an SSC Ground Shipping (no ice pack) order can't be replaced or refunded. See our Shipping Policy.

Can't be returned

  • Gift cards, clearance items, custom or personalized products, and holiday items within three days of the holiday.

Refunds

  • Refunds cover the product price and go back to your original payment method once we receive and inspect the return. They can take 5 to 10 business days to appear.
  • The original shipping charge isn't refundable, and return shipping is paid by the customer.
